Pola Negri was an international film star of her own making. The silver screen never shimmered with a story so redolent of sorrow and joy. Through it all, she gladly accepted life as it came, relishing it with a grace and determination to create and to love. She spent the latter half of her life in San Antonio and left most of her estate to St. Mary’s University.
Join us for a pre-screening talk with Associate Professor Bernadette Hamilton-Brady who has taught for 31 years at St. Mary's University. Professor Hamilton-Brady will introduce the audience to international film star Pola Negri and the impact her career had on the development of film. Afterwards please join us for a film screening of Hotel Imperial, where Negri plays a hotel maid during World War I who encounters an Austrian officer in hiding in a Russian-occupied town.
Enjoy a cash bar and to-go charcuterie boxes for purchase from Tre Trattoria. To accommodate physical distancing, space is limited, and the event is first come, first served.
